 USCRA Vintage Race School

The United States Classic Racing Association’s Vintage Race School (VRS) provides a safe and cost-effective way for riders to experience first-hand, the action and excitement of motorcycle road racing.

The school is held the evening prior to each USCRA road racing event and is open to all motorcycle riders at least 16 years of age as of the event date. All participants of the USCRA VRS must provide proof of valid health insurance and must be a member of the USCRA and the AMA (https://americanmotorcyclist.com).

The USCRA VRS does NOT provide motorcycles for the school. Instruction for proper preparation of a machine for track use can be found in the USCRA Rulebook available on our website. The school offers instruction in both motorcycles and sidecar racing, taught by recognized national champions.

In the VRS, participants are first taught in a classroom setting prior to riding on the course. Topics reviewed in detail include: basic racing philosophy, technique, terminology as well as proper safety and race procedures. This comprehensive curriculum includes both visual and multimedia aids like track maps and videos.

The following morning, school participants are escorted by instructors in practice sessions with other USCRA racers. This initial track time is critical for helping new racers get their bearings in a race setting, and provides them the opportunity to develop a feel for the course and the experience of riding on a track at speed, with other racers. At the conclusion of on-tracks practice sessions, VRS instructors evaluate and review performance with participants.

The final portion of the school is the ‘Rookie Race’. All registered participants in the VRS must complete this 4 lap race in order to receive a race license. The only goal of the Rookie Race is to successfully complete four laps without incident (crashing) or safety infractions. Upon successful completion, participants become licensed members of the USCRA and are eligible to participate in all USCRA road racing events.

The fee structure of the USCRA Vintage Race School is as follows:
Race School Registration $135 US
Rookie Race (required)     $  35 US
