July 5th Endurance Race It is planned to have an endurance race as part of the FIM/NAMU races July4,5 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. There has been much discussion about the length of the endurance race and how it might affect track time for the non- endurance race participants. After much consideration and thought by the Race Directors and myself, we have decided to shorten the endurance race to two hours and run it from 10am to 12 noon on Saturday morning July 5. This will let us run a few rounds of practice from 9am to 10am on Saturday morning. The endurance race however will ONLY be run if there are at least 12 teams pre-entered. If you have never run in an endurance race before you are missing one of the most valuable racing skill improvement tools there is. Fast seat time without the pressure of a sprint race teaches smoothness, strategy, endurance, and track confidence. The entry blank for the endurance race and the FIM/NAMU events are posted! It is very important that we maximize the the valuable track time for racing. With the staggering track costs for this two day event over a holiday weekend, it is critical that everyone promote this event to generate a large spectator turnout. All road racers are welcome from other race organizations. However, keep in mind that many classes and bikes that are "vintage" in AHRMA, WERA and the VRRA are too modern for the USCRA and will not be eligible. This should be a spectacular event with PLENTY of track time for everyone and great racing. May 16th Track School A short track school will be held for novice riders on the practice day before the Vintage Celebration at NHIS. This school is designed to help new riders get their racing license. Click HERE to get the entry form. The school will start early (around 9am) on Friday and use the practice sessions at the end of the day on Friday. $75 entry fee for the school, including a USCRA membership for the year, though all attending will also need to enter with the track for a race on the weekend. April 15th Track School CANCELLED! After much agonizing thought and discussions with others, I have made the decision to cancel the April 15 riders school at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Several critical factors lead me to that decision. First, there is still a lot of snow on the track from a very long and difficult winter. The long range weather outlook for the 15th is not very promising with the strong potential for the day to be both cold and wet. It is expected that the snow will be gone by then but the track will most likely be too cold for school conditions. It is further my belief that the low pre-entry numbers for the school not only reflected the potential for less than optimum track conditions but also speaks directly to the failing economy and high gas prices. Those that have sent pre-registration money for the school will be issued a refund. We will try our best to re-schedule the school to accommodate the new riders. The USCRA exists solely for its members and only survives from member participation in its events. If you haven't already entered the Vintage Celebration, please do so so that we can keep that event on our schedule for future years. The two USCRA events (monday June 16 and July 4,5) are VERY CRITICAL for rider and spectator participation. Costs for 2008 have escalated dramatically. Cancellation of those events is not an option as we are contractually and financially committed. The two day event costs the USCRA twice as much as a single day event. Rider participation and spectator turn out are VERY VERY CRITICAL to avoid financial disaster at the two day event. The MOTOGIRO EAST event May 2.3.4 is proceeding very well with its pre-entries. The April 1 entry deadline has been extended slightly as there are still approximately 8 entry slots left. The event has attracted many new riders to the USCRA from around the country and Canada. There are still some areas where Giro volunteers are necessary. Volunteers have a great time, they aren't overworked and they are clothed with event regalia. Entry blanks for the June, July, and September road races as well as the Pewter Run and MOTOGIRO USA events will be out shortly. Track School entry form posted There will be both basic (for new riders) and an advanced school. Last year since the whole event was so new, the advanced riders really didn't get an organized program, but this year we really hope that there will be advanced / personalized instruction for the experienced riders as well. We're trying to line up some star racers to be the advanced instructors. We'll try to get more details soon. This year we're not planning on running a sidecar school session unless we hear from A LOT of you RIGHT NOW. Since last year we had quite an acrimonious debate over this we will be clear: we need to hear (ie: paid pre-entries) from 8 sidecar teams by March 15th if we are going to run the sidecar portion of the school. So if someone wants to be the sidecar champion and drum up support that would be great. We love sidecars as much as anyone... but scheduling a 1/3 of the day for them if we can't get a bunch out on the track is silly. So please tell your friends, tell your neighbors, get the info out. We really need to get as many new riders out there and make this a yearly event. Vintage Celebration Entry Forms have been posted! Get 'em while they're hot! Check out the events page to get the forms. Please note that there is no pre pay gate entry and you must pay at the gate. This will make it easier as you can arrive at NHMS any time during the event and register to race at a later time. Please pre-register. You can save yourself some money and make it easier on us. To make it clear on the garage rental, motorcycles get half the garage space with one work bench per rental. There is no limit on how many bikes you want to put in your space. If you want two work benches then it is considered as two rental spaces. If you want to share with your friends, send in your garage requests together along with a note and they will accomodate you. USCRA Vintage Race School and Practice Track Day Tuesday April 15, 2008 This April, the United States Classic Racing Association (USCRA) will be holding its annual vintage race school and track day at New Hampshire International Speedway(NHIS) in Concord, NH. This is an event for any vintage rider (bike or body!) who wants to learn more about how their vintage bike performs on the track and to introduce them to vintage racing. While the day is racing-oriented a lot of street riders find that learning the limits of bike and rider on the track is much wiser and safer than on the street. After taking this course you will be fully qualified to participate in USCRA, AHRMA, WERA vintage events.
New Riders School Registration Due by April 1st for New Riders School THIS IS AN AMA SANCTIONED EVENT. YOU MUST BE A CURRENT MEMBER OF AMA. MEMBERSHIPS SOLD AT THE EVENT. Please sign up early as they need to have a head count in order to prepare. Capacity is limited! 2008 Rule Proposals Folks, its been a fairly quiet year for rules clarifications and change proposals, which I think is a good thing, since it means that most people are happy with the rules and classes. But if you do have anything you'd like to have considered by the rules committee during its annual meeting, send an email to rules_uscra@yahoo.com before the banquet. 2008 Schedule The tentative 2008 schedule has been posted.
