Roebling Road, GA Feb. 27, 1998
The first race of the season, for a
small but dedicated group of USCRA riders, was the WERA race at Roebling
Road. By all accounts it was a great event run by wonderful, kind
people. The track is large, gobs of fun and beautifully clean.
In Lightweight Classic, we had a clean sweep with first going to Larry
Somma, second went to George DeCamp and third was David Tatlock.
In Mediumweight Classic, first went to Greg Nichols and third was pulled
in by Larry Somma. In Heavyweight Classic, Greg Nichols nailed first
and Tim Courts pulled in second. Vintage 1 saw five USCRA riders
with the win going to Stan Lipert and filling out the results were Henry
Syphers, Frank Smith, Dave Evens and Dave Katz. In Vintage 2, the
results showed Henry Syphers, Tim Courts, Frank Smith, Stan Lipert and
Brenda Busch. The Vintage 3, class was won by Rick Soles. In
Formula 500, Philip Busch got second and Rick Soles pulled down third with
Rich Barger chasing for all he's worth. In the over 50 class, the
USCRA was well represented with Henry Syphers, Frank Smith, George DeCamp
and David Tatlock. We hope more of our members will take advantage
of the Roebling Road event next year.
