ok even thou NHMS hasent posted lap times or results yet I would love to see my times post as soon as I get off the track like at the vintage fest. If this ment 5/10 bucks more per rider I would pay it. I wounder 1st how many riders we had at the last event and 2nd how many would be willing to pony up a few $ more?

The cost to run the system is $1500/day.With 75 riders, that's $20 more(I don't think we had 75 riders on 6/13).The extra $20 isn't that much in the overall scheme of things, but when you look at a possible first race cost of $150,I'm guessing a bunch of people might get turned off, then fewer riders, higher cost/race,then fewer riders...you can see where I'm going.

I'm surprised that more USCRA racers aren't using the older XT lap timers. With the wide use of the transponders outside of the USCRA I'd be willing to bet you could pick up a used lap timer fairly cheap. It'd be more effort than a transponder but it would provide all of your own lap times easily enough. You wouldn't be able to find out your competitor's times though. But if he crosses the finish line ahead of you the times are a moot point anyhow.

No babbo, I can't see where you're going. Where is it anyhow?

I used my XT timers at NHMS for years, got lots of good data from them. Main thing I learned is when you think your are fast you are slow and when you think you are slow you are fast. And I learned that you forget and leave your beacon outside the fence a lot, and I learned how climb fences or bother people about opening gates.

A full kit is $2500, but the track wants $1500 each event to rent their system? Does this make sense?

If there is enough interest in the club, maybe a group of riders can get together and get interest from riders and the club, could raise the funds separately within ourselves to buy our own system.....

$10540 for full system, and transponders with chargers, and mounting brackets for 60 riders. Thats actually only $176 per rider for the club to get thier own system and outfit those riders.

How badly do we want to join the digital age?

$176 per rider? Aren't people paying almost twice that for just their own transponder right now?

I have my own transponder and I do see the benefits in using them. But I also did see some pretty small grids at this last event. Is the additional cost associated with transponder usage going to put it over the edge for even more racers. You need to remember there's an awful lot of USCRA racers that race no where else. For 20 plus years they've gotten by without them. I think you'd need to convince that group that the benefits of the transponder usage make the investment worth it.

You'd essentially be making the cost of a USCRA license $200 for a year. Is that worth it?

http://www.mxtransponder.com/products.aspx

60 units are $134 per unit. the system is $2500, which divided by the same 60 is an additional $42. Dunno how many "official" licensed members we have, but if divided by the numberof active riders we had from the last two events the cost may even drop.

So we have what, 100 core riders? And if we bought 120 transponders there would be leftovers (?) torent to the travelers, or holdouts, and help pay even further.

How about some stats from the club about membership?
