Springfield Ma GP

Springfield Ma GP. In mid July the VSCCA is putting on a car race on the streets of Springfield Ma.Has any one of the club officers contacted them or the City to see if we could piggy back there event. It going to be there fisrt year in Springfield after years in Pittsburg Pa.. I am sure we can find some old Indians that would run too.

That would be cool racing through the streets, but not like in my teens with the police in chase.

There is no chance of participating in this event. That was made very clear in preliminary talks with the car people. We asked for a place to set up a display and were turned down also. We do have the possibility of setting up a paid display at Indian Days downtown. We are considering this.

Looks like a good event to attend none the less. and if we show up to support it all the more chances it could happen next time. Maybe a Gypsy Run with camping nearby?

This may be old news to some, the the Streets of Springfield event has been cancelled this year. The City was extremely receptive to my input but the sanctioing body was far less interested. I think a certain amount of disorganization got in the way - there seemed to be one guy running the show. If anyone is interested in setting up a bike only event, I'd be very happy to get involved.

You might look at the Vintage Festival for the lack of receptivity. It's the track that insists that the bikes be included.

Without having to consider 2 wheeled racers, the SVGP can put their leaky old cars out there and not have all the complaints.
