"Please do not post Craigslist, EBay auctions, or links to other sites. If you want to list something for sale, post the whole ad here."

I'm disappointed with the above rule. I think passing along info on items for sale that would help with our race bike projects is a valuable part of these forums, for obvious reasons. The Craigslist link to the MB5 in "Classifieds" might be a welcome bit of news to someone here, and yet appears to be in direct violation of the above rule. I don't get it.

Anyone can search Craigslist for themselves. There's plenty of good tools for searching it, and this forum doesn't need to be yet another search engine for EBay.

Try www.crazedlist.org for searching whole regions of Craigslist.

If YOU some something that YOU want to sell, feel free to list it here. Most forums have the same rules about classifieds.

Forums that allow posting of outside ads become a total mess as everyone posts what they THINK other people are interested in, when in reality only a couple of people are interested. When a couple of hundred people start posting links to ebay etc. it quickly becomes unmanagable and confusing ...half the time people end up posting the same links over and over because they aren't reading the previous posts.

Just strikes me as an unnecessary restriction. I don't know what other forums you're on, but you can't be talking about the old USCRA forum. I don't believe it was ever abused in that respect. There were some good links to possible Giro bikes and interesting vintage racers, items you may not have been specifically searching for. If you're not interested in it - don't read it. How confusing is that?

Perhaps a person could start a topic titled specifically for this purpose "Links to stuff for Sale" , something like that, so items being sold by USCRA members wouldn't get lost in the shuffle.

a problem that i have to moderate constantly is the deleting of CList ads that have been deleted by the author or editing/deleting old photobucket files that are no longer supported or fractured. it gets time consuming. not saying no here, just something to consider.

Sorry, I didn't notice/read the rules. Just thought someone may be interested in a possible race bike. Now I know.
